This was a concert that will rank as one of the top shows of 1994 for me. It was held at a v. small venue, a club called Woodstock that at most could hold 150 people. It was v. intimate and up-close and they didn't seem to adjust their volume for the smaller room, so my ears are still ringing even now.
The first song was "Changer", which is one of my least favourite. Anyhow, it sounded great and that was the hint that everything would come off fabulously, which it did. They played 14 songs in total, and if I were to assemble my favourite 14, it would match v. closely the set they chose, so that was especially satisfying for me. Highlights included "Lo Boob Oscillator" (complete with lengthy apres-verse groove-jam), "john cage bubblegum" (I love this song, and MUST find a place where I can buy this single, ... can anyone help here??....) "jenny O.", "super-electric", "orgiastic", "french disko" etc, and the encore was "lock groove lullaby". v. good.
There was an ugly false start on "super-electric" upon which Laetitia rolled her eyes and said quite audibly in French, "Quel fiasco!". In fact, most of her between song chit-chat was in French, for the Montreal audience.
All in all, a v. powerful, well played, groove-jam kind of performance. They played almost exclusively uptempo songs.
Highly recommended, plenty fun.
