| The Finnish Stereolab?... Just heard my new favorite band: le Futur Pompiste. Their new album "Your Stories and Your Thoughts" is excellent! Here is how Darla.com describes them: "Soon to be big-in-Japan debut by Finnish quintet who play timeless pop music that's informed by cinematic pop and sixties golden years (Gainsbourg, Morricone, Mutantes, Association, Harper’s Bizarre, Walter Wanderley, Nico to name but a few), but sometimes by eighties or nineties indiepop (e.g. Eggstone, Smiths, Sterolab, Broadcast, Cardigans). Le Futur Pompiste’s debut record is beautiful, original and creative. “Your stories and your thoughts” shows sophisticated listening music from Northern Europe, very well made, with a fantastic rhythmic section. There are always melodic elements and the whole is a fascinating sonic journey to create a very filmic and dreamlike ood - groovy not unheimlich. This collection presents a band in all their wistful pop glory. Ten songs. blend of vintage electronics, bubbly effervessence, noise bursts, outstanding female voices, bossa nova and light spacey age bachelor pad music and groovy bounce. At last after some obscure years, again lovely music floating along in the Scandinavian stream. As they state: LFP is a collective started among friends with the simple aim of making beautiful and touching pop music." Plenty of Moog, horns, flutes, female vocals, etc. |
