After learning of the dual-mono construction of the new album, I made a copy each of the isolated left and right channels. I had previously noticed a lot of cool seperation while listening to the original, including a lot of little hidden treasure sounds on one channel or the other. What is incredible is how well the isolated versions stand on their own. Either one would have been a great new record, even by Lab standards. Like Koly, I find myself humming or tapping to the missing parts that I had memorized from listening to the composite version so often before. What would have been interesting is to have heard one of the isolated versions first, and gotten used to it. Then when you heard the actual mixed album, it would be stunning. Leave it to Tim to come up with such a great idea! I highly recommend everyone to give the individual channels a listen.
