Information

This is a new version of 'French Disco' from D-UHF-D01. The title was altered to 'French Disko'. 'Jenny Ondioline' on the B-side is also an alternate version to the one on D-UHF-D01.

The groop had recorded new versions of these songs and pressed up a promo disc for radio, and national radio started to play 'French Disko'. Duophonic weren’t in a position financially to repress D-UHF-D01 with French Disko as the A side. So they stickered the remaining stocks of that release and issued a limited 1000 CD pressing of the promo with handmade sleeves.

A further 3000 CDs were then pressed up with a printed green and white sleeve.

It was all worth it as 'French Disko' became the first Stereolab song to get into the UK singles chart, albeit for one week only, reaching No.75.

A further 1500 copies of this single were pressed up on 7" vinyl and sold on a European Tour on which the groop supported Pavement.
